Robert George, a longtime television executive, died October 23, 2012, in Valley Village, California. He was74. According to news reports, the cause was brain cancer.
George, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, graduated from San Jose State University.
He broke into television with a job in the mailroom at San Francisco station KPIX-TV and went on to become a news director, program manager and station manager. He also worked at KING-TV Seattle and WBZ-TV Boston.
Later, George sifted to syndication with a job at Group W as national director executive producer of PM Magazine. Next he became vice president, programming, at MTM.
