Television Distributor Eleanor Bolta Taffner Dies
Her company, DLT, distributed Three’s Company and other series.
Eleanor Bolta Taffner, who helped to distribute the television series Three’s Company and The Benny Hill Show through her company DLT Entertainment, died of September 15, 2010, in New York City. She was 79.
According to news reports, Taffner died of natural causes.
In the early 1970s, Taffner co-founded the distribution company D.L. Taffner with her husband, Donald. The couple later changed the company’s name to Taffner Enterprises as they began focusing on television and stage production.
DLT distributed the ABC comedy Three’s Company and its spin-off Three’s a Crowd, as well as Too Close for Comfort.
With the British production company Theater of Comedy, the company produced the BBC hit As Time Goes By. It also co-produced made-for-television movies The Saint and Dick Francis Mysteries, which aired in Britain, France, Canada, Ireland, Australia and Germany.
In 2003, Eleanor Taffner was appointed honorary vice president of the Glasgow School of Art in recognition of her continued support of the institution.
Survivors include her husband, son, daughter and three grandchildren.
