Actor C.J. Bau Passes

Pursued acting after retiring from a successful career in the electronics industry.

Actor C.J. Bau, who guest starred on many television dramas, died in April of 2009

The oldest of three children, he was born Carmen Joseph Bau on March 30, 1937, in Pittston, Pennsylvania.

In 1949 the family moved to New York, where Bau attended parochial schools and graduated with honors from Cardinal Stepinac High School.

Following a stint in the navy he began a career in electronics, and in 1960 obtained employment with North American Philips Inc. as a field service engineer. He eventually rose to the position of regional manager in Rochester, New York.

Bau was always active in local theater groups, and in 1980 he retired from Philips and pursued a professional acting career. In 1986, in pursuit of greater opportunity, he moved to Los Angeles.

He eventually landed roles in such series as Chicago Hope, L.A. Heat, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Close to Home and Leverage.

He also appeared in such feature films as Star Trek: First Contact and Conversations.

He is survived by his parents, a sister, a brother, his wife, a son, two grandchildren and several extended family members.
