Humanitas to Present Fourth Kieser Honor to
HBO Films President on June 28

Los Angeles, CA – HBO Films President Colin Callender is this year's recipient of the Humanitas Prize® Kieser Award at the the 32nd annual Humanitas luncheon on June 28, 2006.

Frank Desiderio, president of the Humanitas Prize, said that the Kieser Award—named for the late priest and producer, Fr. Ellwood "Bud" Kieser, C.S.P., who founded the organization in 1974—is given to an individual whose work has helped to "promote a greater appreciation for the dignity of each member of the human family." Callender is the fourth recipient of this prestigious honor.

"Colin Callender continues to make tremendous contributions to the film and television community as a tireless leader and a role model for so many people," Desiderio stated. "He has earned a reputation for tackling sophisticated and significant stories."

Under Callender's watch, HBO Films has garnered 39 Emmy® Awards, 18 Golden Globes, 4 Peabody Awards, and 9 Humanitas Prizes. During the most recent awards season, HBO took home Globes for miniseries Empire Falls and dominated the Primetime Emmys with 17 statuettes for productions including the Life and Death of Peter Sellers, Lackawanna Blues and Warm Springs.

Finalists for 2006 Humanitas Prize awards for feature films and television productions will be announced on June 6. Plus the organization will present their annual "David and Lynn Angell Humanitas Fellowship in Comedy Writing," which includes a $10,000 stipend and opportunity to work in the television industry for a student completing a graduate writing program.
