How to Join

Membership in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is open to those persons who are or who have been actively engaged in activities related to the production or distribution of audio visual works for national exhibition by means of telecommunications. The Academy of Television membership has unique requirements for each of the 28 peer groups, described under requirements. The different types of membership are explained in detail under membership types. Membership and membership rights are not transferable.

To apply for Student membership ($50) or Faculty membership ($75) you must print out an application and mail it.

In order to complete an online application, you must provide the minimum credits required (please see Requirements for each Peer Group) and contact for employment verification.

In addition, unless you have received an Emmy Nomination within the previous four years, you must provide the names of two endorsers. Endorsers must be Active members of the Television Academy - one from the Peer Group to which you are applying and one from any Peer Group. Please contact the endorsers to insure that you are spelling their names exactly as they appear on their Membership Card.

If you have received an Emmy Nomination within the last four years, the endorser requirement will be waived.

Active Membership is $175 per year with a one-time nonrefundable processing fee of $10 payable by Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

Associate Membership is $100 per year with a one-time nonrefundable processing fee of $10 payable by Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

For an additional $75 per year, members can join the Television Academy's Film Group entitling them and a guest to attend up to 60 screenings of first-run films in the state-of-the-art Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
