Call for Entries: The Third Television Academy Honors
Submission period open for the Third Television Academy Honors. The gala is set for May 5, 2010 in Beverly Hills. Entry deadlines are Dec. 14 and Jan. 12.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is accepting entries for the third Television Academy Honors ceremony on May 5, 2010, at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Television Academy Chairman-CEO John Shaffner announced today.
The awards recognize “television with a conscience” and focus on programs benefiting society through the presentation of compelling, emotional and insightful issues.
Submission Deadlines: Dec. 14 and Jan. 12
The entry submission deadline for programming originally aired from Jan. 1-Oct. 31, 2009, is Dec. 14, while programming originally aired from Nov. 1-Dec. 31, 2009, is Jan. 12. Honorees will be announced on March 2, 2010.
"Television Academy Honors was created to recognize great programs that cut across genres and formats, but have in common the power to inspire, change mind-sets and lives and have positive social impact,” Shaffner said. “We anticipate that 2009 will offer up a great number of worthy submissions for consideration.”
Last year's recipients of Television Academy Honors included A Home for the Holidays (CBS); Breaking the Huddle: The Integration of College Football (HBO); Brothers & Sisters: "Prior Commitments" (ABC); Extreme Makeover Home Edition: "The Martirez & Malek Families (ABC); Masterpiece Contemporary's “God on Trial” (PBS); Stand Up to Cancer (ABC, CBS, NBC); 30 Days (FX) and Whale Wars (Animal Planet).
Entries may be submitted for fiction/nonfiction as a whole series, a single episode or for a story arc up to three episodes. There is a limit of one entry per series. Made-for-television movies, miniseries and fiction/nonfiction specials are also eligible to apply for the Television Academy Honors. There is a processing fee of $100 per entry.
